Fwinninas are mollusc-like spacefaring people that possess single eyes and long, tentacle-like limbs. Standing at roughly the same height as a condling, they typically possess four legs, the outer two of which are used to stabilise themselves while the inner pair is used to walk.

While their number is very few, with less than 240,000 fwinninas alive according to the Fwinnina Public Database (FPD), they are very widespread, with a tendency to live solitary lives due to their longevity and parthenogenetic reproduction. Their point of origin is lost to history.

Biology[edit | edit source]

Fwinninas are highly adaptable organisms, able to withstand great extremes of pressure and temperature and quickly acclimatise to many different types of atmosphere. As they typically travel space alone, they are dependent on other species for equipment and major repairs, and their environmental adaptability aids them in this endeavour.

Many creatures find them unsettling due to their habit of sporadically autotomizing their limbs and quickly regrowing new ones. Many fwinninas will proceed to eat these limbs, and it is not uncommon to find fwinninas offering them to someone they are talking to as a gesture of good will.

Reproduction[edit | edit source]

Fwinninas are dependent on dragons to reproduce, as they can only produce fertile eggs when they are submerged in a dragon's stomach acid. As a result, they see them as breeding grounds to be negotiated with, and have grown accustomed to hoarding items and livestock on their spaceships that may one day be used to persuade a dragon to allow them to lay eggs in their bellies. Sometimes, this quasi-sexual relationship leads to a sexual one, and this occasionally results in dracfwis.
