Startling Void
The Startling Void is the border plane situated "between" Eudaimonia and Tēbû, a contingency to prevent creatures from looking "outside" and realising the truth of their existence. Often described by scholars as the most distant, alien plane, it is named for its propensity to cause a violent mental disturbance in all those who behold it.
Pockets of Reason[edit | edit source]
Although the Startling Void is virtually incomprehensible to most, within the Startling Void are "pockets" that contain relatively parsable features. These are known as the Pockets of Reason. Some Pockets of Reason are inhabited by Steeple Goblins, long, teddy-bear headed, many-legged carnivores that kill and devour any and all living creatures that pass their way. Reading the mind of a Steeple Goblin causes one to have visions of the Startling Void (thus being startled).
Infinite Stairwell[edit | edit source]
- Main article: Infinite Stairwell
The Infinite Stairwell, a flight of stairs that goes infinitely in both directions, is located in the Startling Void.
