Volvera is a core demon and a goddess of mortality and revolution. She is the ruler of Cyclothéatron, the 360th layer of the Abyss. She typically has the form of a limbless, headless body wearing a large, blue ball gown with a hoop skirt. Her skull, though severed, is sometimes placed atop her neck in order to heighten her abilities. When not atop her head, it is located within her dense white petticoat. She moves by hovering from place to place, rapidly rotating as she goes. She also slowly glides about near the ground.

She encourages mortals to engage in wild and risky rebellious skirmishes, relishing their mortality, especially when they are targeting immortal creatures such as liches or her most hated foes, devils. She is known to bestow battle frenzy magic upon her worshippers and reward those that actively pursue their enemies without sacrificing their own mortality.

Volvera is commonly worshipped by those seeking to banish immortal beings from the world and are not afraid to use wild, often violent, means. She is associated with motorcycles, particularly choppers, and encourages her followers to ride around on those or on wild, loud beasts.

Though long lived, Volvera is not immortal, and passes on her mantle to a new Volvera every few centuries, typically to one of her most devoted mortal worshippers. The ritual involves a ritual of great celebration that culminates in the new Volvera being gruesomely dismembered by huge spinning blades while dancing through them gracefully, at which point Volvera's soul is infused with theirs and, though many memories are preserved, the original Volvera experiences "true ego death".

Taboos[edit | edit source]

Volvera encourages a loathing for immortal beings that would do harm to mortals, regarding all mortals as being part of her domain. She strongly discourages necromancy and sedentary lifestyles, considering a boring life wasted mortality.

Rumours[edit | edit source]

Volvera's acolytes often repeat several platitudes based on a pervasive rumour that at the end of every era, Volvera was present and at the end of the universe, Volvera will be last one to witness it, making sure it has truly ended before she herself ceases to exist forever. Although rumour is often dismissed as unfounded, it has been a matter of great interest to oracular worshippers of Kairos, who confidently place Volvera at many important points in history. Volvera strongly disapproves of this rumour, and older worshippers attempt to discourage it.
